i recently saw rancid at emo's in austin and had a chance to talk to matt freeman after the gig.. alot of people bashed the guy for not being more into it on stage.. but after seeing them play for the first time since 98 and talking to the guy i think it is just his personality.. real down to earth guy and real nice to talk too.. lars as well..

I saw Matt Freemans 1st show with SxDx and I have to say Freeman looked bored as hell. Social D is by far my favorite band but Freeman is to good of a bass player for this band. Besides he probably didnt want to take up any of Ness's spotlight.

Agreed. Matt Freeman is one of the best bass players in punk rock.
Case in point: Maxwell Murder...

Brent Harding is still the best for Social D. Social D. should have gone straight to Brent Harding instead of Matt Freeman after Johnny Maurer left the band. No disrepect to Freeman or Rancid. I'll be seeing them tommorrow night here in San Antone!

having seen both brett with social d and matt with social d plus matt with rancid, i feel like the situation right now is perfect. matt is a great bass player and belongs with rancid, brett is a great bass player (albeit in a different way) and belongs with social d. the situation right now is ideal.
